Powerful Pump + Filter = Healthier Fishes?
Bought a $6 air pump and a $2 filter because the old one which my friend gave me is not working so well.

Many Guppies + Small Tank = Death
Wrong move on my part...shouldn't have tried to kept so many guppies in a small tank.
The next day I found the water to be quite cloudy so I decided to dig out my old skool plastic fish tank. I think I had the tank while I was in primary school......
I didn't know how to clean the tank then, I believed I washed the tank with soap everytime I change the water. That's why my fishs(guppies too) died soon after and so I ceased the hobby, haha.

Now they are able to swim more freely around the tank instead of clustering towards the surface of the water like before.

Free Pump + Free Time = New Hobby
I've always wanted to rear some guppies. Not the expensive high breed ones ($3 each) but just the typical cheap ones going at $2 a bagful. After successfully psyhcing my friend to give me his old unused pump, I decided to get myself started. I headed down to a small time fish shop in my vicinity(instead of the over-hyped Rainbow),bought a bagful of guppies at $2,an air stone for 40 cents and a small bottle of micro pellet fish food at $2.

CSI Serangoon North
I've seen in many fish shops that female bettas are kept together in a communal tank.
So I decided to try it out with four females in a 2 litre beaker.
One of them was not eating, so I quarantined her in a smaller beaker.
So three were left in the big beaker.
Then one of them lost its appetite too and there was a small nick on her belly.
I thought it was just a scratch from one of their occasional harmless tussles.
The next day, that fish was already floating on the surface with a much bigger gap in her belly with the white flesh showing. I took her out, disposed of it, made a 100% water change in case of any contamination.
Then there were two left. Now, who is the murderer?
Well, it didn't took me too long to find out.
The next day, one of the two became lerthagic and would not eat. I inspected her body and found no wounds.
The day after, that is today, I came back from school to see the victim lying in the bottom of the tank with a torn belly. Dead of course!
And now for the gruesome pics.
